It is already approaching the end of our 2019/20 winter season, and we won't deny that this year was a very special one. We haven't had so many weather changes here in the Sauerland for a long time. But the ski lift operators at Skiliftkarussell Winterberg have made the best of it.
The ski rental Brinkmann branches in Winterberg were gradually closed. Until Sunday, 15.03. the Herrloh branch is still open. On the weekend of March 14th and 15th, the ski rental Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe will open once again. After that we will close our doors for the time being. Whether we will be able to open again the following weekend depends on the snow conditions and whether the lifts at Skiliftkarussell Winterberg are still running. On our homepage you can still see the current status of the openings.
What happens in summer with skis, snowboards and the ski rental branches in Winterberg?
The branch 5- Remmeswiese 15B of WInterberger Ski Rental becomes a warehouse and a small workshop. Here the space is actually fully utilized. Not only are some of the skis from the rental shops located here, but at the same time, due to the space available, some handicraft work is also carried out in this branch. Only 200 meters further, in branch 4 - Remmeswiese 28 every single ski and snowboard that belongs to our stock in ski rental Winterberg goes through a major ski service. Our branch 2 - Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe , as well as branch 1 - ski area Kappe, will be completely cleared out and even rebuilt in the summer. In Hostel , the ski rental in Winterberg will become a bike and Segway cellar. No matter whether with the MTB on a mountain bike tour or on the Segway through the fun course, the school classes of the house, but also other groups on request have the possibility to experience the fun of skiing in summer. In winter you could still ski over the ski slopes in the Sauerland and in the green season over the different trails and cycle paths in Winterberg. The Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe is therefore the perfect group accommodation with a wide range of leisure activities - in winter as well as in summer.
The ski rental Winterberg becomes a bike station in the Bikepark Winterberg
The ski area Kappe changes the most. This changes in summer to the bike park Winterberg and the Erlebnisberg Kappe. Therefore, the branch 1 - ski area Kappe will not only be cleared out, but also completely rebuilt! There will be no trace of ski, snowboard and winter sports left. Instead the mountain bikes will move into the "Bikestation", as it is called in summer. With over 70 of COMMONCAL's latest downhill and freeride bikes for adults and kids, the bike manufacturer's largest rental station in Europe is located here. For those who are not yet familiar with the sport of biking, we will later have a real insider tip on how to get a spectacular insight into the world of mountain bikes without having to get on the bike yourself.

Away from biking, there is also a lot going on, because with the Erlebnisberg Kappe numerous attractions for families, friends and also groups open again in summer. There is something to discover for really every age. The little ones have fun at Kappi's adventure playground, on the Panorama Erlebnisbrücke the whole family enjoys the view of the Sauerland and the sights in Winterberg. The Kappe Express is a leisurely round trip in a fire-red train through the city and if you want more action, visit the climbing forest Winterberg. On the classic for young and old, the summer toboggan run Winterberg, young and old meet for a few rides together at the end of an exciting day at the excursion destination Erlebnisberg Kappe .
Insider tip: Fly-Line Winterberg - The latest attraction is the leisure tip in Sauerland
A flight through the Sauerland woods and over the bike park Winterberg awaits you with the Fly-Line. In comfortable seatbelts, you can take a leisurely ride at a height of up to 10 metres over the 1,000-metre-long track down to the valley. The flight does not only run through the treetops in the Sauerland, but also over sections of the bike park Winterberg , so that the guests have the opportunity to watch the bikers on their rapid descents over the trails.
