Summer is over, the days are getting shorter again and everyone is looking forward to the first snow! It won't be long before the 2019/20 ski season really gets underway. Preparations are in full swing throughout Skiliftkarussell Winterberg . The Erlebnisberg Kappe becomes a ski resort Kappe and the lifts are waiting to make their rounds again. Also in the ski rental Brinkmann we prepare for the season. We would like to give you an insight into all the activities that have been and will be done in the last few days. Thousands of ski and snowboard sets have to be prepared and sorted in five branches. In addition to the logistical effort, each ski will receive a ski service over the summer to start the season as new.
The bike station becomes a ski rental in Winterberg
Only a few days ago the bikers rode over the tracks in the bike park Winterberg. The bike station is the first port of call for ticket sales, bike rental and service. A few weeks ago the sale of this year's rental fleet started. So the bike station became emptier and emptier at the end of the season. As soon as the gates of the Bikepark closed, the whole Bike Station was rebuilt. The counter becomes the service stations, where later your skis and snowboards will be adjusted to fit you. At the same time, the boards can be waxed here so that they don't get stuck in the fresh snow. Along the walls the shelves are filled with the rental equipment. This also includes shoes, sticks and helmets. There are also useful accessories such as gloves and ski goggles, which can be purchased.
What do the skis and snowboards actually do in summer?
Contrary to what many may think, the material does not just stand around, is stored temporarily and waits there for the next use. A large ski service is carried out on every single ski during the summer months. The base of the skis will be repaired. This is, so to speak, the sole of the ski, which in winter covers hundreds of kilometres in the snow. Afterwards, the base is of course also sanded, just like the edges. The ski service is completed with waxing. A complex machine helps with the entire process. Nevertheless, this process takes a lot of time for each individual ski and takes place throughout the warm season. Since the life of skis and snowboards is also limited, completely new skis are also purchased regularly.
